The hours for the Summer Commencement ceremony are tentatively set.
Friday, Aug. 7, 2020
Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020
Due to the pandemic, all ceremonies will be held outside on “The Stripes” football field at Estes Stadium. Social distancing and face coverings/masks will be required by ALL students and guests attending (no exceptions). Each graduate that participates will be given seven tickets – one ticket for you and six guest tickets. You and your guests MUST have a ticket to enter. Be mindful when deciding who gets a ticket that it is HOT in August and the ceremony is outside in the elements. If any of your guests meet any of the criteria below, please invite them to stay home and watch the live-streamed ceremony.
- 65 years of age or older
- Have underlying health conditions including high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, severe obesity, asthma, or weakened immunity
- Have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days
The ceremonies will last approximately 45 minutes each. Guests will be allowed into Estes Stadium 45 minutes before the ceremony begins. To maintain social distancing, this will be a “no-contact” ceremony.
In accordance with academic tradition, all degree candidates are robed in a black cap and gown. The tassel is worn on the right side of the cap until the degree is conferred.
Graduation robes are available for pick up in the UCA Bookstore the week of graduation between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
There will not be a commencement rehearsal. To allow time for last-minute checks and instructions, degree candidates should assemble at their designated stations in the Farris Center no later than one hour before the start of the ceremony.
