After four days, the buzz of the chainsaw is over, but the buzz around campus continues. A sculpture of a black bear outside Wingo Hall is now complete.
Gary Keenan, a sculptor from Iowa, began shaping a tree into a life-sized black bear on Monday, May 6. He finished on Thursday, May 9.
UCA students, faculty, staff, and alums, along with local media and community members visited the work site each day to watch Keenan’s progression on the carving.
Social media users have started using the hashtag #SelfieWithTheBear to document images of themselves with the bear.
