NOTES:
- K-6 Elementary, 4-8 Middle Level Social Studies, and 7-12 Social Studies require a credit in Arkansas history in addition to the passing test score(s).
- K-6 Elementary and K-12 Special Education require a passing score on the Pearson Foundations of Reading test in addition to the required Praxis assessments.

Coaching Endorsement
THIS INFORMATION DOES NOT APPLY TO THOSE COMPLETING UCA’s K-12 HEALTH/PE PROGRAM.
Those licensing in K-12 Health/PE through UCA’s program should consult with their advisor about the coaching endorsement.
TO ADD THE COACHING ENDORSEMENT TO A STANDARD LICENSE
- Complete the 25 credit hour program of study offered by the UCA Department of Exercise and Sports Science. More information available here.
- Earn a passing score on Praxis 5091 Physical Education: Content Knowledge. More information here.
NOTE: The Praxis requirement for the coaching endorsement is different than for the K-12 Health/PE license. Be sure to take the correct Praxis assessment. The requirement for Coaching Endorsement is Praxis 5091.

Career Development Endorsement
For those holding a standard license
If assigned to teach the course, enroll in the Arkansas Department of Career and Technical Education’s mentorship program. Contact the Arkansas Division of Career and Technical Education for information.
English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement
- Complete the 12 credit hour program of study offered by the UCA Department of World Languages. More information available here.
- Earn a passing score on Praxis 5362: English to Speakers of Other Languages. More information available here.

Driver Education
The UCA Driver Education is approved by the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education for adding the Driver Education endorsement (license code 417) to a standard Arkansas educator license. Non-UCA students with a teaching license should apply as a post-baccalaureate student and will then be able to register for these two courses.

Complete the following 6 credit hours:
- EDUC 4361: Driver Education
- EDUC 4362: Advanced Driver Education

Courses were listed with H ED prefixes prior to fall 2020. Courses were listed with HLTH prefixes prior to summer 2024.
In addition to these six (6) credit hours, candidates must also have:
- a passing score on the Driver’s Education Performance Assessment
- a course or certificate in first aid

Dyslexia Endorsement [Graduate Level]
- Complete the dyslexia graduate certificate program of study or the M.S.E. in Literacy with Dyslexia Endorsement.
- Submit a passing score on one of the current Praxis Principles of Learning and Teaching exams.

Instructional Facilitator/Lead Professional [through ASTL Graduate Program]
- Complete the 15 credit hour core courses from any of the ASTL tracks listed here.
- Complete the applicable assessment(s) depending the endorsement/designation sought
- FOR INSTRUCTIONAL FACILITATOR ONLY (License code 521)
Submit a passing score on any one of the current Praxis PLT exams. More information here. - FOR INSTRUCTIONAL FACILITATOR AND LEAD TEACHER DESIGNATION
Demonstrate of cognitive coaching competency by completing DESE-recognized coaching professional development. This PD is frequently offered by Arkansas Education Service Cooperatives. Contact your co-op or DESE for upcoming opportunities to complete this PD.
