International Education Week 2016

UCA Home Final

International Education Week is a great opportunity to celebrate the rich diversity, culture, and education that international students from around the globe bring to the University of Central Arkansas.  With over 700 international students from over 70 countries at UCA, International Education Week gives these students the opportunity to share dance, music, food, clothing, festivals, and information about their culture.  Please contact Tyler Copeland at Tylercopeland@uca.edu or 501-852-2435 if you have any questions or would like additional information.  We hope that you will join us at these events below!

In celebration of International Education Week, UCA Center for Global Learning and Engagement invites faculty, students, and staff to attend open lectures and programs in the Leaders of the World 2016: The Future of Civil Society Conference (LOTW2016). The conference will have 4 sessions with the following themes: Education, Politics, Place, and Peace.

LOTW2016 begins with a keynote address from His Excellency Diabaté Daouda, Ambassador of the Ivory Coast on Wednesday, November 16 at 1:00 pm and concludes on Friday, November 18 at 1:00 pm with a keynote address from Juana Acosta López, Director of the Law Program in the School of Law and Political Science at the University of Sabana in Chía, Colombia. Gregorio Luke will present a lecture about Nobel Prize recipient Mexican poet Octavio Paz on Wednesday, November 16 at 7:00 pm at Reynolds Performance Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public. In addition to keynote addresses, there will be moderated conversations and round table discussions. Global Expo will be held on Thursday, November 17 between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm and is open to faculty, students and staff. Global Expo will feature student government organizations, UCA Study Abroad Program, international partner institutions, and academic colleges will have tables to present information about programs, activities, and cultural elements.

 Global Expo is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and Conway community members to experience UCA’s rich international student culture. Almost thirty countries will be represented at the Global Expo with a table proudly displaying the students’ heritage and background. In addition, there will be cultural performances by international students during the Expo.
