Arrival Information
Center for Global Learning and Engagement will provide free transportation until 6:00 pm for students arriving on the listed arrival dates. There will be student volunteers waiting at the bottom of the escalators, near the Starbucks, to greet arriving students. The volunteers will be holding “Welcome to UCA” signs and will help students find their luggage and get on the shuttle to UCA. Students arriving on the first arrival day will meet their host families. Students arriving on Check-In day will go straight to New Student Check-In and then move into their on-campus housing assignment.
IFO Host Families
Host families are provided by International Friendship Outreach (IFO). IFO is a Christian volunteer organization made up of families living in Conway. While they are not an official part of UCA, they have provided host families for new students for several years. Students who request a host family will be given a free place to stay until their housing assignment is ready. You are not required to stay with a host family. Students who arrive before Check-In day who do not wish to stay with a host family will need to make their own arrangement until they can move into their housing assignments on Check-In day. If you are unsure whether or not you would like to request a host family, you can find out more information about IFO on their website.
Alternate Arrangements
Students who do not wish to request an IFO host family, or who arrive before the first arrival day, or who arrive after 6:00 pm on either arrival days will need to make arrangements to stay in a hotel. There are two hotels near the airport who have a shuttle that will transport students to them: either the Comfort Inn & Suites or the Holiday Inn & Suites. Please note that students 17 and under will not be able to reserve a room for themselves, and should plan to arrive at an earlier time.
Any students staying in an airport hotel the night before an arrival day can take a shuttle to campus the next day. Otherwise, students staying at a hotel will need to arrange their own transportation to UCA.
The taxi system in Arkansas is safe, so if exercising appropriate judgment, you should not be afraid. If you take a taxi from the airport to Conway, you should expect to pay $60-$90. Tell them you are a UCA student and you may receive a discount.
