International Education Week 2013 was a great success at UCA with students participating in a wide variety of activities ranging from an Ethnic Dance Party, a Diwali Festival, an International Fashion Show, movie night, a soccer tournament, and many other internationally themed activities.

“These activities increase the awareness of the diverse international cultures that are represented through our international students at UCA.  We hope to encourage UCA students to get more involved with international education through international student organizations, studying abroad, or volunteering with Center for Global Learning and Engagement,” said UCA International Student Services Coordinator, Casey Aceituno.  “I’m encouraged by the wide amount of participation from UCA students and the local community in these activities.”

The biggest of these events was “Worldfest” in which international student groups set up displays outside of the Student Center showcasing cultures from around the world. The displays featured art, music, cultural dress, and food from nations around the world.

International Education Week is a  joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education that was created in order to “promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States.”
