Swimming Lessons:

Free Swim Lessons for UCA Students & Employees

Current UCA students and employees can learn to swim at no cost. Lessons are taught by
the Assistant Director of Aquatics, Evan Johnston, ejohnston1@uca.edu.

Space is limited; placement is first come, first served. Session dates and times are coordinated after you email.

Third-Party Swim Lessons (Public)

Independent providers offer lessons to the general public. Fees and schedules vary by provider.

Aquatic Center Policies

Lightning Policy

  • If lightning is detected within 10 miles of the facility, the pool and deck are cleared immediately.
  • Activity may resume only after 20 minutes have passed since the last strike outside the 10-mile radius.
  • If the pool is closed at the start of a class, practice, or event, it will remain closed for the entire session.

Staff will communicate updates on site and via posted signage.

Rules & Regulations

Safety & Conduct
  • No running or horseplay (including shoving or dunking).
  • No leaning on or lifting lane ropes; do not hang on the shallow–deep lifeline.
  • No backward jumps/dives and no front or back flips from the pool deck.
  • Follow all lifeguard instructions; clear the pool immediately when the whistle sounds.
  • Anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be denied admission.
  • Disruptive behavior may result in removal by UCA Police.
Attire & Hygiene
  • Appropriate swimwear required (no street, workout, or baggy clothing).
  • No food or chewing gum in the Aquatic Center.
Property & Facility
  • The UCA Aquatic Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items; secure personal belongings.
    For safety, do not leave items on the pool deck.
  • No smoking or chewing tobacco anywhere in the facility.
  • Report equipment failures or damage to Aquatic Center staff immediately.
  • Report all accidents and injuries to Aquatic Center staff immediately.
