Student Employment

We hire for our positions each semester.  If you have any questions, we encourage you to contact the Assistant Director over the specific area of interest.

We will post all current openings through the Department of Human Resources, only when a position is available.  Available Student Jobs

Points of Emphasis

  • Students should not expect to be able or allowed to study while at work.
  • Students work before or after class, sometimes evenings or weekends depending upon the position, and are paid at least minimum wage for the work they perform.
  • Students are not placed in jobs.  Instead, students interested in working on campus must apply for positions.
  • A student may not work during a scheduled class time.
  • A student may work no more than 1,500 hours in a year (July 1 through June 30)
  • Please note that the 20 hour rule (while enrolled) for International Students is still in place.  This is a federal law and not complying could result in the student losing their visa status.

Federal vs. Institutional Work-Study
  •  A need-based program funded by the U.S. Department of Education.  The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required before the Financial Aid Office may determine your eligibility.  If Federal Work-Study appears on your Financial Aid Notification or on your myUCA Financial Aid portal, it is not a guarantee of employment, but rather an indicator that you are eligible to accept either an institutional or federal position on campus.
Institutional Work-Study
  •   These positions are based simply on the availability of funds in each department and do not depend on any financial need.  Students qualifying for Federal Work Study can also be hired and paid out of institutional funds at the department’s discretion.
