The Brass Area at UCA is one of the finest in the country. Offered the opportunity to study with world-class artists, students take part in weekly lessons, an intensive brass chamber music experience, orchestral literature reading sessions, and weekly masterclasses, and they participate in guest artist appearances throughout the year. Recently, the UCA Brass Choir embarked on a tour of Arkansas, the Horn Studio traveled to a regional conference in North Carolina, and the Tuba Euphonium Ensemble appeared at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference as an invited ensemble.
Our top students have the opportunity to perform with the Conway Symphony (selected by audition), and recent students have performed with the Pine Bluff Symphony and the Arkansas Symphony, as well as at countless “gig” opportunities throughout the state.
Other experiences for brass players at UCA include a daily brass warm-up class, rehearsing with student quintets coached by the faculty, and preparing for auditions in a “mock” format judged by graduate students and faculty.
