Richard was born in Albany, GA.  At the age of five he moved to Florida where his dad was stationed. He graduated from Vernon High School in Florida.  Richard received a football scholarship to play football at Culver Stockton College in Canton, MO where he played ball and attended classes for one year before deciding to return to Florida to attend the University of West Florida.   In 1991 Richard graduated from the University of West Florida with a bachelor’s of Science in Health, Leisure, and Sports/Sports Science.

After receiving his bachelors, Richard went on to receive a graduate assistantship at Southwest Texas State University in Intramural Sports.  He graduated with his Master’s of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Southwest Texas State in 1993.

Richard’s first professional position was at Georgia Southern University as the Intramural Sports Programmer from 1993-1995. After leaving GSU he took his second professional position as the Assistant Director of Intramural’s, Club Sports, and Special Events at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro from 1995-1997.  He then went on to become the Director of Campus Recreation at Valdosta State University in Georgia in September of 1997 and remained in that position for 18 years.

In November of 2015  he was lucky enough to be offered the Director of Campus Recreation here at the University of Central Arkansas.  He enjoys providing students with all sorts of activities to keep them entertained and engaged on campus.

“The development of Campus Recreation over the years has been miraculous.  We have gone from providing a place for students to play intramural sports to state of the art recreation facilities with all the amenities (wellness, outdoor pursuits, and aquatics). I hope you will come visit Campus Recreation and see all we have to offer.”
