Attend one general session during Welcome Week
- There are lots of options of important and fun events to attend during Welcome Week. We’ve highlighted some of them in the other domains, but this item is a catch-all for other sessions. If you attended any of these sessions during Welcome Week and scanned in using your CubConnect event pass, you have already earned credit for this item.
- If you attended How to be a Bear session Monday morning, August 19th, complete the Self-Report form to earn credit! Make sure to go to the Welcome Week verification portion of the form for this event.
- If you didn’t get to attend any of those sessions during Welcome Week, we are adding a bonus option for this item! Attend our First 40 Celebration celebrating your forty days on campus. This event will be held on Tuesday, October 1 during x-period (1:40-2:30pm) in the Ronnie Williams Student Center Ballroom. To earn credit, you will scan in using your CubConnect event pass.
Visit one academic support service
- Student Success Services offers an incredible amount of support to help you succeed in the classroom. At some point or another, you will utilize one of their services as a UCA student. Recognizing when to ask for help is an important step but knowing where to go is the next step. It’s a good idea to utilize at least one of these services before you need help. You’ll only need to take advantage of one of these services to earn credit for this item, but you should continue to utilize all as many times as you need them.
- Tutoring Services is located in the Torreyson Library on the 2nd floor. They offer tutoring from UCA students on general study skills and for many lower-division core and humanities courses (Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Logic). To earn credit: make an appointment with a tutor and show up.
- Success Coaching connects you with a peer coach to share practical suggestions on how to improve your effectiveness, develop better time management, establish clear goals, and manage stress. To earn credit: make an appointment with a success coach and show up.
- The Center for Writing & Communication can help you through the composing process for and writing or communication project or presentation. The offer in-person, video, and email appointments. They are location in Thompson Hall, Room 109. To earn credit: make an appointment with a tutor and show up.
- Academic Success Workshop series offers numerous workshops to help address common areas of student concern. Review the extensive list of workshops hosted by UCA faculty and staff to identify which one(s) could benefit you and check back each semester as presentations change. To earn credit: show up and make sure you are checked in and stay the entire length of the presentation.
Participate in one wellness activity
- Campus Recreation & Wellness offers many different options to improve your physical wellness and support all dimensions of wellness. To earn credit: take a selfie of you participating in one of the activities listed options. Complete the Self-Report form and upload the picture.
- Walk the Jewel Moore Nature Reserve Trail. Click here for a trail map.
- Attend a group exercise class at the HPER Center
- Participate in an intramural sport
- Check-out gear from COPA Gear Locker
Attend two campus fairs
- Throughout the year there are numerous fairs hosted on campus, each with a special focus. To earn credit: attend two fairs and make sure to check in using your CubConnect event pass. If you aren’t sure where to check in, look for the “New Bear Bucket List” sign near the host table for the fair.

Complete a career assessment
- Academic Advising offers a MyMajors Assessment to help you evaluate which UCA major(s) align with your personal interests. Careers Services offers Focus2 Career Assessment to help you explore occupations to make more informed career decisions.
- To earn credit: take one of the assessments and upload the completion certificate or email as your picture on the Self-Report form.
- Hint: You might have already completed the MyMajors Assessment during the summer for New Bear Central. If so, all you’ll need to do is upload it on the Self-Report form!
Watch a StudentLingo Workshop
- Student Success Services offers online workshops hosted through StudentLingo. Workshops are available 24/7 and are hosted on a variety of different topics to help your development in and out of the classroom.
- To earn credit: complete a workshop and upload your certificate as a picture on the Self-Report form.
- Bonus opportunity to win a $500 scholarship on top of New Bear Bucket List credit! Each month—September, October, November, February, March, and April—one lucky student will be selected to receive a $500 scholarship. To enter, simply complete a StudentLingo workshop, and you’ll be automatically entered into that month’s drawing. The more workshops you complete, the more chances you have to win!
