Summer Orientation and Academic Registration (SOAR)



SOAR (Summer Orientation & Academic Registration) is an orientation experience for incoming freshmen designed to introduce you to the university and jumpstart your transition to college life. You’ll meet your academic advisor and receive your fall schedule of classes, hear from faculty, staff, and Student Orientation Staff (SOS) members about what to expect in your first year, and get the chance to meet other incoming freshmen. We are excited you are coming to UCA and want to connect you to campus!

There are one-day session options and also two-day options for students and families looking for an expanded orientation experience. The two-day option offers additional sessions and group activities with your incoming class, a personalized class schedule tour, and in-depth tour of some campus facilities including the HPER Center and Library.





Numerous SOAR sessions will be held throughout the summer of 2023. Select the date that works best for you and register below.

You will be able to register yourself and any parent/family members/guests you would like to attend with you. There is no fee for yourself and one guest to attend SOAR. Each additional guest will cost $25 per person.  After registration you will be emailed a payment link to pay with a credit or debit card for the additional guests.

Space is limited for each session. Once your registration is complete, you will receive a confirmation email at the email address listed on your registration form.

Virtual Session

Participation in our virtual session is reserved for students who are experiencing extenuating circumstances that would prevent them from coming to campus. Therefore, only students who are approved to participate in this option will have the opportunity to register for a virtual session. Please select a date below to complete a Virtual Session Request form. Once completing the request, you will be notified whether or not your request has been approved within three business days.




If you previously registered for a SOAR session and would like to change your session date or cancel your SOAR registration, please do not edit or cancel your original registration. Instead, please complete a SOAR Cancellation/Change form at the link below. 

Changes and cancellations should be made two weeks prior to the session date. Please note that SOAR is required for all incoming freshmen. If you are still planning on attending UCA but need to cancel your session without changing to a different date, please call our office to discuss options.




There is no cost for you and one guest to attend SOAR. Each additional guest will be charged $25 per person. This cost covers orientation materials, programming costs, refreshments, and meals.

For students attending the two-day session, lodging on campus during SOAR is encouraged! You will need to bring your own bedding and linens as you will be staying overnight in Donaghey Hall. Make sure to indicate on your registration form that you would like to stay on campus.
