First-Year Families

Welcome to the UCA Family!

Your student is about to embark on an incredible journey full of personal growth and self-discovery, as they work toward earning a degree.

This isn’t just a big change for your student—it’s also a major transition for your family. UCA Parent and Family Programs is here to offer support, guidance, and resources every step of the way. Reach out to us anytime:

A good place to start is our UCA Family Guide. Here, you’ll find a comprehensive source of information specifically curated for first-year students and their families.

Family Orientation

The Office of Student Success has created a Family Orientation webpage for first-year students and their families that includes information about:

  • Instructional modes of classes
  • Campus technology
  • Academic policies
  • FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act)
  • Financial Aid
  • Parent and Family involvement
  • Campus Resources for students
  • Resources for families
  • And more!

Parent Lingo

Parent Lingo is a free online orientation for parents to assist them as they help their students transition to college. There are eight modules covering financial aid, social, cultural and intellectual transition issues. Please take a few moments to complete the modules. It is our hope that Parent Lingo will be beneficial to both you and your students.

Join the UCA Family Network
