Student Success programs and services include:
Academic Success Workshops
Workshops are offered each semester on topics such as Time Management, Test-Anxiety, Note-Taking Skills, and Communication Skills. Online workshops are also available. A schedule of workshops is available through the Workshops tab above.
Peer Coaches are available in each First-year Residence Hall, and in Old Main 102 and the Tutoring Center for walk-ins. For more information, see the Success Coaching tab above.
Located in Torreyson Library, Suite 223, Tutoring Services provides individual on-site and on-line academic peer tutoring, study hall, computer lab, and Praxis tutorials. There are even treadmill desks for your use! For a tutor schedule, see the Tutoring tab above.
Supplemental Instruction (SI)
An academic assistance program that utilizes peer-assisted study sessions, SI sessions are regularly-scheduled, informal review sessions in which students compare notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and predict test items. See the class schedule or speak with an advisor about enrolling in an SI course.
Summer Start Bridge Programs
Summer bridge programs offer entering first-year students the opportunity to begin their college work early. UCA currently offers summer programs in reading, math, and writing, as well as a leadership program for residential and commuter college students, a boot camp for science majors, and a chemistry review program. Day of Mindfulness
This annual fall event provides students opportunities to explore a variety of practices and techniques for improving concentration and decreasing stress, both key factors in being a successful college student! For more information, see Day of Mindfulness.
First 2 Go Awareness Campaign Week
This event seeks to raise awareness of the challenges faced by first-generation college students, as well as resources available to our first gen students. Faculty and staff are invited to show their support by wearing their First 2 Go button, and sharing their own success stories. For more information, see First2Go
UCAN for Students on First Suspension
The UCAN (“Unlocking College Academics Now”) program provides students on first academic suspension the opportunity to continue their enrollment while engaging in workshops and small groups. For information, please see the UCAN tab above.
Autism Support Program
This program brings together services from across campus to enable success for students who are on the autism spectrum. For more information, please see the ASP webpage.
Arkansas Student Success Symposium
The Office of Student Success coordinates this annual State-wide event for higher education faculty and staff. For more information, please see the Symposium website.
