UCA Piano Camp – Class Descriptions
We are excited to now offer an even stronger curriculum combining piano and general music classes! Classes are designed to meet the learning needs of each age group listed. All classes are taught by our UCA faculty and assisted by outstanding musicians. Excellent group and one on one attention!
Ages 2-3 Music Makers, Monday – Friday 9:00-9:45 *CLASS FULL, NO WAITLIST*
Taught by Dr. Christa Kuebel
Cost: $75 per student
Our youngest learners (ages 2-3 year olds) will be engaged in music-making to help prepare them for a musical future by developing foundational skills.

Ages 4-5 Piano Class and Music Makers, Monday – Friday 9:00 – 10:45
Taught by Dr. Kuebel and Ms. Christine Franklin

A fun, fast-paced introduction to piano and all the foundational music skills needed to study any instrument! A great way to begin piano lessons! Piano Class includes:
- Learning to read music
- Reading and performing rhythms
- Developing aural skills
- Steady beat practice
- Fun and creative activities
Students will participate in a 50 minute piano class and a 45 minute Music Makers class.
Music Makers class includes:
- Singing
- Percussion instruments
- Ear training
- Activities are designed to develop musical understanding and extend the skills they have learned in piano.

Ages 6-8 Piano Class and Music Makers, Monday-Friday 10:00 – 11:45 *CLASS FULL, WAITLIST ONLY*

Ages 9-11 Piano Class and Music Makers, Monday-Friday 11:00 – 12:45 *CLASS FULL, WAITLIST ONLY*

Cost: $150 per student
A class designed especially for older beginners who are ready to learn piano! This fun and fast-paced class will cover all the beginning skills to play the piano. The class will include:
- Beginning music reading
- Understanding and performing rhythms
- Ear training
- Steady beat skills
- Chord playing
Our outstanding UCA faculty and assistants will provide one on one and group instruction.
Students will participate in a 50 minute piano class followed by a 45 minute Music Makers class which further strengthens the foundational skills they have learned in piano class. This general music making class will include:
- Ear training and singing
- Movement and rhythm skills
- Percussion instruments
- General music development that complements the concepts they learn in piano class

Beginning Jazz Piano for ages 12-18 (or permission of the instructor)
Monday-Friday, 12:00-12:50
Taught by Ms. Julia Buckingham McCorvy
Cost: $75 per student
This class will introduce the basics of jazz style including: blues progression, melodic and harmonic improvisation, seventh chords, introduction to many types of jazz.

- Group instruction and one on one tutoring
This class requires intermediate playing skills including some note reading and knowledge of scales and major chords. Let us know if you have any questions about your student’s skill level.
