Joseph Casselberry
Visiting Instructor of Music Education
SFA 315
Joseph Casselberry most recently worked at Louisiana State University where he taught courses in music education, instrument pedagogy, music technology, and supervised intern teachers. He taught middle school band for seven years prior to his career in higher education, most recently serving as the director of bands at Dutchtown Middle School in Louisiana, where his students consistently filled honors ensembles and performed beautifully at assessments.
His research interests stem from interdisciplinary connections between the fields of music education and occupational health psychology. These include testing interventions that address common symptoms of burnout, sharing evidenced based recommendations for developing personalized and sustainable work recovery plans, and investigating how music teachers might craft job experiences to enact control and meet their own needs. He has presented at regional and national conferences on these subjects and remains active as a clinician and volunteer across the region.
