UCA’s IST division is pleased to offer specialized technology training for faculty and staff of the university.
All training sessions are hosted in Burdick Hall 218 (second floor), which contains 16 computer workstations for an optimal “hands-on” training environment.

The Blackboard Basics training session covers the fundamentals of the Blackboard Learn LMS. The session includes navigating the interface, understanding the menus, uploading and posting content for students, and implementing basic assignments into the course. This course is ideal for those brand-new to Bb and want to start using it to enhance their course for students.Register
Blackboard Assessments and Assignments
The Blackboard Assessments and Assignments training session covers how to create tests, quizzes, and assignments, timed or un-timed. The session discusses the various question types for tests, how to use question pools, how to grade assignments, and how to deploy assessments and assignments for student. This session is recommended for those who wish to start using Blackboard for assessing student learning online outside of normal class times.Register
Blackboard Grading Center
The Blackboard Grading Center training session is an overview of the Grading Center feature of Blackboard Learn. The session discusses the interface, entering and changing grades, using rubrics within Blackboard, creating weighted grading schemes, and using formulas to calculate student grades automatically. This session is recommended for those who want to start using Bb Learn to track grades so that students know where they stand.Register
The Gmail Intermediate session introduces Gmail’s unique features and interface. It includes how to manage your mailbox with Gmail’s unique label system. Gmail Intermediate is recommended for those who are either new to Gmail or want a refresher on the basics.Register
The Gmail Advanced session builds off the knowledge of the Gmail Intermediate session and provides the next step in getting the most of Gmail’s advanced features. The session covers different ways to optimize your mailbox for incoming emails, best practices for using the search bar and email sorting filters, using Google Labs, and other advanced tips and tricks.Register
The Google Calendar session provides an overview of the Calendar interface. The session will cover the process of scheduling and configuring events, as well as setting event reminders. In addition, the session will introduce the concept of appointment slots, and how to create custom calendars and share them with others.Register
The Google Drive session introduces Drive’s interface and features, covering the processes of uploading, storing, and organizing files, as well as sharing files with others for collaboration. The session will look at Drive’s office suite by covering Google Docs in detail, as well as the fundamentals of Sheets and Slides.Register
