Center for Global Learning and Engagement

Our mission

Welcome to the Center for Global Learning & Engagement at the University of Central Arkansas.

Our name reflects our commitment to engaging the entire UCA community in the many opportunities for global learning available at UCA. The Center for Global Learning & Engagement (CGLE) at the University of Central Arkansas works to promote intercultural understanding and to enrich the academic and cultural environment of the University by creating programs to promote the exchange of people and ideas. Each year we recruit, welcome, and support approximately 400 international students who study in almost every undergraduate and graduate degree program or complete their post-graduation Optional Practical Training in Arkansas or elsewhere in the U.S.

We provide semester study abroad opportunities at more than 20 partner universities on five continents and National Student Exchange Study Away semester exchange throughout the U.S. and Canada.  UCA’s “Global Classroom” initiative provides UCA students and faculty to participate in Collaborative Online Learning with partners around the world.

CGLE brings a world of learning to UCA. Our programs prepare all students to live well in local and global communities.

CGLE houses the Offices of Education Abroad and National Student Exchange, International Student and Scholar Services, International Admissions and Recruitment, and the Center for Chinese Language and Culture.

CGLE works closely with the Intensive English Program.

Important Links

International Admissions and Recruitment guides international students through all steps of the admission process.

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) provides assistance and support services to new and currently enrolled international students and scholars.  Our services include, but are not limited to: orientation, information and assistance with immigration regulations, housing assistance, social and educational programming.

Education Abroad and National Student Exchange (NSE) offer UCA students the opportunity to study abroad or study away while earning credit toward their degrees. Education Abroad offers international academic programs in over 20 countries on 5 continents. Students can earn academic credit by spending a semester at one of UCA’s international partner universities, participating in a short-term faculty-led trip, or by improving their language proficiency through language immersion programs. NSE offers students the opportunity to study away and attend universities in the U.S. and Canada while earning credits toward their degree.

Center for Chinese Language and Culture is dedicated to supporting students and faculty interested in studying and experiencing China through bilateral agreements with individual Chinese universities.  The Center also supports the teaching of Chinese language and culture across the state of Arkansas and the Arkansas Chinese Heritage Project

The Intensive English Program (IEP) has a five-level program with courses in a variety of skills to prepare students for academic success. Upon successful completion of upper-level IEP classes, students begin credit-bearing courses towards their degree.

Global Learning initiatives at UCA are designed to promote global awareness and global literacy through a variety of high-impact experiential learning opportunities.
