What is Exit Counseling?
Exit counseling provides important information to prepare you to repay your federal student loan(s).
If you have received a subsidized, unsubsidized or PLUS loan under the Direct Loan Program, you must complete exit counseling each time you:
- Drop below half-time enrollment
- Graduate
- Leave school
Exit counseling is an online counseling session where you submit information online through studentaid.gov. If you would like a copy of the materials to keep or review, please click here for a pdf version.
You will need the following items to complete Exit Counseling:
- U.S. Department of Education FSA ID
- Email address
- Date of birth
- Social security number
- Your student account information
- Details on your future income, financial aid, and living expenses if known
Follow the steps below to complete Exit Counseling:
- Navigate to the website: https://studentaid.gov/ and login with your FSA ID username and password.
- On the home page, click on the “Loan Repayment” tab at the top of the screen.
- In the first column under “Prepare and Apply”, click “Loan Exit Counseling”.
- Click “Start” (blue box) to begin the counseling.
- On the left side, select University of Central Arkansas in the drop-down menus of the Notify School section. Select the Notify School button (blue box). UCA’s address and school code (001092) will appear. Then hit Continue.
- Complete your Loan Exit Counseling by following the prompts and answering the questions provided.
After you have completed Exit Counseling, our office will be notified by the U.S. Department of Education within approximately 1-2 business days of completion.
