Mission Statement
The Baum Gallery is an educational art museum for UCA students, faculty and staff, and the central Arkansas community. The Director and Faculty Exhibitions Committee select national and international touring exhibitions, sponsor juried student shows, and cooperate across disciplines to curate original exhibits distinctly suited to an academic environment. The gallery develops exhibitions and events that invite interaction and encourage dialogue about visual art: the creators, studio process, history, criticism, curation, and cultural contexts.
Exhibits and events are under the aegis of the UCA Department of Art and Design, College of Fine Arts and Communication. The Baum Gallery maintains institutional memberships in the Arkansas Museums Association, the Association of College and University Museums and Galleries, and the American Association of Museums.
Updated: Due to the winter weather, the reception and Kat Wilson’s talk have been moved to Feb. 12th. Dates above and below reflect these changes.
From February 2nd – March 6th, 2026, the Baum will host two solo exhibitions by artists-in-residence: Alice Aida Ayers and Kat Wilson. Ayers will present ANCESTRAL SPIRITS: STITCHING THE PAST TO THE PRESENT. Wilson’s exhibition will include a large-scale installation of a #selfiethrone and is entitled THE UNITED STATES OF SELFIES: A #SELFIETHRONE for the People. A 250-Year American Portrait.

- Jan. 22nd: Alice Aida Ayers Artist Talk, 6 pm in McCastlain Hall, rm 143
- Feb. 10th: Two lectures commemorating America at 250: Frederick Douglass: ‘What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?’,” presented by Dr. Lori Leavell, and “This is America,” presented by Dr. Crystal Harris, Baum Gallery (School of Language and Literature), Baum Gallery, 1:40 – 2:30 pm.
- Feb. 12th: 1:30 – 3 pm, Exhibition Reception & America 250 Gathering, Baum Gallery and Fireplace Room.
- Feb. 12th: Kat Wilson Artist Talk, Gallery will be open 5:30 – 7:30,talk at 6 pm in Baum.
- Mar. 6th: Debut of the #selfiethrone by Kat Wilson in Downtown Conway as part of the March Art Walk, 5 – 8 pm. Specific details TBA.

Weekdays 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Closed during Fall/Spring Break, National Holidays, and June and July of Each Year.
