All UCA art department faculty are committed to consistent making and exhibiting. Donna Pinckley, professor of art in photography, is no exception and she has had an impressive record of success with her recent body of work titled Sticks and Stones.
She was awarded first place in the professional division for People/Culture at the International Photography Awards (IPA). Her work was selected from over 20,000 of photographs from photographers all over the world including England, Thailand and Japan. The jury consisted of a panel of forty-one international jurors: gallerists, photo editors, art collectors and art directors. The head juror, Catherine Edleman, owner of Edleman Gallery in Chicago, chose three of Donna’s photographs to be included in the IPA’s Best of Show Exhibition in New York City during the Lucie Awards in October 2018. The Lucie Awards is one of the most prestigious awards given to honor masters of photography. The forty-five photographs chosen for this Best of Show Exhibition is currently traveling to fifteen cities during 2019. The exhibition was in Bangkok in December, is currently at the House of Lucie in Los Angeles, CA. and will travel to Tokyo to be exhibited at the Shibuya Cultural Center Owada in February before stopping in Paris and Moscow.
In addition, five of Pinckley’s photographs were recently selected for the Currents Exhibition at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Currents exhibition opened in December during PHOTONOLA and will be on exhibit through the middle of February. The juror was Anjuli Lebowitz, an exhibition research associate in the department of photographs at the National Gallery, Washington D.C.
