Common Course Numbering

Effective Fall 2027, the University of Central Arkansas will move all its courses to the Arkansas Common Course Numbering (CCN) System. Under CCN, the same courses at different institutions will have the same course prefix and number, making the transfer of courses between state colleges and universities more transparent. Students should be aware of the policies in the Undergraduate Bulletin or Graduate Bulletin that govern the transfer of courses from another institution to UCA.

Old vs. New Course Number Taxonomy:
The old four-digit course numbers will be replaced with five-digit course numbers. The first digit indicates the course level (0 – 4 are undergraduate, 5 – 9 are graduate), the next two digits are a unique course identifier, and the last digit is the credit value. The fourth digit is flexible and can be used to create a three-digit course identifier, or a credit value greater than 9, or a special designator (e.g., H = honors course).

In Spring 2027, advanced registration for Fall 2027 will use the new common course numbers. To find the new course numbers for the old course numbers in your plan of study, use the search tools below.
