Loan Agreement/Master Promissory Note Instructions

You will need the following items to complete a Master Promissory Note(MPN):

  1. U.S. Department of Education FSA ID
  2. Permanent Address, Telephone Number and Email Address
  3. Names, addresses and phone numbers of two personal references.
    • You must have known the reference for at least three years.
    • References cannot share the same address or phone number.

Follow the steps below to complete the Master Promissory Note:

  1. Navigate to the website: https://studentaid.gov/.
  2. Click on the “Loans and Grants” tab at the top of the screen.
  3. Under the “Get a Loan” section, listed as the third item is “Master Promissory Note (MPN)”, click that.
  4. There are 3 different options.  One for Undergraduates pursuing an Associates or Bachelors Degree, another for Graduates pursuing a Masters or Doctoral degree and one for Parents of Undergraduates.  Click  “Log in to start” (in the blue box) next to the option that fits you.
    • IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have been awarded a Parent Plus Loan, your parent must also sign a Promissory Note for the PLUS Loan using their own parent FSA ID.
  5. On the next screen, enter the Student’s FSA ID and Password, then click “Log in”.  On the pop up screen, click Accept
    • or the parent signs in here to do the parent PLUS loan MPN.
  6. Enter Your Personal Information.
  7. Select Arkansas and University of Central Arkansas in the drop-down menus of the School and Loan Information section. UCA’s address and school code (001092) will appear.
  8. Enter your Personal References information.
  9. Read Terms & Conditions carefully.
  10. Review your information and sign your MPN.
  11. You should receive the following message: “Thank-you for submitting the MPN”. In addition you should receive a confirmation email that your MPN has been completed.

After you have completed the Master Promissory Note, our office will be notified by the U.S. Department of Education within approximately 1-2 business days of completing the MPN.
