Counseling Center Intern


A current master’s student in the Counseling Psychology or Community Counseling program

Completion of departmental pre-internship requirements


Director of Training


Service Requirements:

Individual Counseling:  Case load of 12-15 individual and/or couples per week; 1-2 intakes per week

Group Counseling:   Co-lead minimum of one group per semester

  1. Crisis Intervention:   Serve as on-call person four hours per week
  2. Outreach Programming:   Conduct programs/workshops as assigned by Outreach Coordinator
  3. Personality Assessment: Administer and interpret personality tests with clients as necessary

Training Requirements:

  1. Supervision: Individual Supervision 1½ -2 hours/week
  2. Training Seminars: Regularly attend and participate in training seminars 1-2 times/week
  3. Staffings: Attend/participate in weekly staffing meeting

Administrative Requirements:

  1. Clinical Records: Maintain clinical records in accordance with the Center’s procedures
  2. Staff Meetings: Regularly attend/participate in weekly staff meetings
  3. Evaluation: Complete/submit evaluation forms as assigned
  4. Paperwork: Complete all paperwork including weekly reports

Additional and Optional Opportunities:

  1. Training: Attend conferences/workshops outside of the center and/or UCA
  2. Specific Areas: Seek out additional opportunities in testing, groups, programming, etc.
  3. Research: Read/research the center’s resources and materials; initiate new projects
