Important Student Deadlines Spreadsheet
Major Advancement Portfolio Review (MAP)

- Deadlines are posted in the Important Student Deadlines Spreadsheet at the top of this page
- Interviews take place every year on the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving break.
- Students enrolled in Major Advancement Portfolio will have detailed instructions and information about the interview, as well as on the online sign-up sheet.
- Students participating in MAP review for a second time will be contacted by the Major Advancement Portfolio instructor regarding the sign-up sheet.
- The sign-up sheet will be monitored in real time by faculty teaching Major Advancement Portfolio.
BFA Applications, BFA Practicum Proposals, BFA Internship Proposals
- Applications accepted spring and fall
- Applications to be admitted into the BFA Program, as well as Practicum and Internship proposals by current BFA students are typically due in early November or early April
- Deadlines are posted in the Important Student Deadlines Spreadsheet at the top of this page
- Fill out the forms available under BFA Formshere.
- BFA Program applications may be submitted within the semester the student attempts the MAP review. Acceptance into the program is contingent upon completion of the MAP review and approval of application. Students accepted into the BFA program will be notified by the Department Chair or the BFA Coordinator and as to which BFA course to next sign up for their next semester.
- BFA Practicum proposals must be signed by the primary and secondary advisor. Practicum proposals lacking signatures will not be considered. Upon proposal acceptance the BFA coordinator will notify the student and their primary advisor. The student then requests their primary advisor enroll them in ART 4300 BFA Practicum I if the primary advisor’s course section is closed.
- BFA Internship proposals must be signed by the faculty member sponsoring the internship. Internship proposals lacking signatures will not be considered. Students wishing to enroll in BFA Inrternship after proposal acceptance must contact their advisor for course enrollment.
Directed Studio Course Proposals
- Proposals are crafted in conjunction with mentoring faculty
- Proposals accepted spring and fall
- Mentoring faculty submit completed proposals to the Department Chair for inclusion in a future faculty meeting.
- Notice: Proposals must be signed by your faculty mentor or they will not be considered.
- Upon proposal acceptance, it is the mentoring faculty’s responsibility to notify the student and subsequently verify the student’s registration in the appropriate course section

Baum Gallery – BA/BFA Senior Exhibition
- Works in all media by graduating seniors in the UCA Department of Art
- Event occurs fall and spring

- Bachelor of Arts Candidates in the Bachelor of Arts with emphasis in Fine Arts or Art Education are required to produce a senior exhibition of their work through the ART 4140 BA Assessment & Exhibition class. The BA Senior Exhibition is a display of the best work made in junior and senior level studio art classes and is juried by a panel of art professors in conversation with the student. Students also learn about installing and lighting work in a gallery setting. Senior Exhibitions are staged in the Baum Gallery at the ends of the fall and spring semesters.
- Bachelor of Fine Arts Candidates in the Bachelor of Fine Arts programs are required to produce a senior exhibition of their work through the ART 4160 BFA Assessment & Exhibition class. BFA exhibit is part of the BFA professional development courses that are designed to prepare students for their BFA exhibition and entry into the professional art community. Students will learn how to handle art and installation practices, prepare a portfolio of their work, and present a public lecture on their art and influences. The final show is staged in the Baum Gallery at the end of the fall semester, and again at the end of the spring semester.
Arrowmont Workshop Application

Internship Scholarship Application
