Grand Ole Opry
Scott Meador recently created large-scale virtual scenery as part of a stage set re-design and upgrade to Nashville, TN’s famous Grand Ole Opry. In collaboration with Moo Creative Media and MooTV, both of Nashville, TN, Scott created virtual set designs that enhance the physical set by displaying them on a high resolution 52′ x 26′ LED screen. Virtual lighting, video screens, and a concert-inspired scaffold design fill the negative space provided by the physical scenery. The virtual lights and screens can be animated and change color, rotation, and position in realtime by the crew at the Opry just as if they were real scenery – for example, when the lighting designer wants to use red light on the stage, they can change the virtual set lights to red using their lighting controller. In addition to the abstract scaffold and screens, a virtual barn, which was reminiscent of the original Opry stage set, was made for the show. The new stage set and LED screen premiered on February 4th, 2023. See this article in The Tennessean for more information.
