Still on the Move!
The fall semester is well underway as we continue to work out the final details for the upcoming Windgate Center for the Fine and Performing Arts! It is an exciting time for the entire Department of Art & Design! The Interior Design Program is working on plans for their program’s expansion once we vacate McAlister Hall. We have rolled out our New Foundations Program and welcome our new Foundations Coordinator, Assistant Professor Leslie Macklin. Professor Macklin not only brings experience, but a fresh perspective and excitement for the new foundation classes. So please, when you are on campus, help us welcome Professor Macklin to the Department of Art & Design.
I will mention briefly that as the Pandemic is still a part of our lives, the Department of Art & Design Faculty remains vigilant in maintaining a safe studio/classroom environment for all of our students, faculty and staff. We will come out on the other side victorious and stronger than ever! Even during this challenging time the department continues to provide exceptional extracurricular activities for students this fall including, to name a few, two amazing visiting artists Lily Kounen and Fabiola Jean-Louis, a departmental trip to Crystal Bridges in November, and a series of excellent exhibitions in the Baum Gallery. There is one thing for certain, stay tuned, because the Department of Art & Design is still on the move!
