Dr. Gayle Seymour has published an article, “Simeon Solomon in Venice: Carnival and Canova,” in the Autumn 2020 issue of the Pre-Raphaelite Society Review (v. 28, n.3, pp.57-71). Her article explores Simeon Solomon’s previously unstudied trip to Venice in 1867 and the impact of two Venetian artists on his work: the Renaissance painter Titian and the Neoclassical sculptor Canova.
