I am pleased to write about all of the exciting and new things that have occurred since the last time I have written “View from the Chair”. On the first of July 2020 some important changes happened. First we became a part of a new college and went from the College of Fine Arts & Communication (CFAC) and joined forces with the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) and we are now the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences (CAHSS). Secondly, we had a name change from the Department of Art to the Department of Art & Design,  the result of having the Interior Design Program, formerly housed in the Family Consumer Sciences Department (FACS) join our Department, increasing our full time faculty by three and increasing our student numbers too.  We are pleased to have that program added to our department and art curriculum! The most exciting news was the groundbreaking held on October 9, 2020 for the New Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts! We are scheduled to move into that great facility Fall 2022! This much needed space will give the section of the Art Department the needed studios to expand and grow our program as well as be on the cutting edge of technology. So hang on, the ride for the new Department of Art & Design is just beginning, and you do not want to miss it! Stay tuned until next time!
