Mask, Mingle & Materials, a materials fair hosted by the University of Central Arkansas American Society for Interior Designers (ASID) Student Chapter was an incredible success! Twenty vendors from across Central Arkansas gave some amazing presentations to showcase the design fields top products. This not only allowed current design students to gain important insight into what to use for their projects, but it served as a fundraiser for the UCA ASID Student Chapter!
The 2020-2021 ASID Officers started out by contacting vendors and found many who wanted to participate. Some even donated items like cups, levels, and notebooks for swag bags that were free for the student attendees! Sponsors paid $50 for their table or $25 to participate virtually and submit a spotlight video for students. The grand total from the fundraiser was $786! This money goes towards helping students attend design conferences all over the country, such as ASID’s Student Design Summit. This is important because these conferences are great opportunities to get connected with professionals currently working in the field.
The day of the event, tables were set up on the front lawn of McAlister Hall to allow for social distancing due to Covid-19 and a one-way traffic flow was put in place. 37 design students attended the event which is a great turnout! Each vendor made a short video from their table for students who could not attend in person. Company products include flooring, wall covering, office furniture, lighting, and countertops. All vendors were very open to any questions about products and gave out business cards to allow students to contact them for samples in the future.
