Chautauqua School of Art at VACI Artist-in-Residence program
The department of Art at UCA is committed to providing and supporting outstanding creative learning opportunities to our students. As of February 2019 the Department of Art at UCA has established an exciting partnership with the Chautauqua School of Art at VACI. The Institution has a long history as a champion for the visual and performing arts and as a hub of creative and intellectual activity. As described in their mission statement, “The School of Art promotes inclusive and expansive programming in the visual arts to include studio work, professional development for artists, the art of pedagogy, contemporary writing in the 21st century and the relevance of art history today.” Students accepted into the program will work closely and collaboratively with thought leaders from across the country. Upon acceptance into this competitive program, our partnership will provide up to two junior or senior level UCA art students a matching scholarship which will cover residency tuition, room/board, access to all Chautauqua programming outside of the residency program itself and a small travel stipend to attend this seven week summer residency.
For questions regarding how to apply for the art department matching scholarship or to be made aware of other scholarship opportunities please contact Liz Smith at lizs@uca.edu.
