CNSM May Field Trip Page

Field trips are available most mornings during the month of May by appointment. These will include the Griffin Planetarium and the Jewel Moore Nature Reserve. Reservations can be made to visit the Nature Reserve then the Planetarium or the other way around. Schools bring larger groups can reserve both options (on a first come first served basis). The Maximum number of attendees including students, teachers, aides, and chaperones cannot exceed 188 (This allows a maximum of 94 in the Planetarium for each of two shows). 

Scheduling your visit

The day of your visit

1. Plan to be unloaded and ready to enter the Planetarium or Nature Reserve at least 15 minutes before your scheduled show time. Any later arrival may reduce the time available for your show.
2. Buses will drop students off for the Planetarium in the marked passenger drop-off zone at the east end of the CCCS Building on Western Avenue.
   Buses may then park in the parking lot between College Avenue and the Bear Stadium Baseball Field.
3. Directions to the CCCS drop off zone coming from I-40:
   Take Exit 129
   Head west on E. Dave Ward Dr.
   Turn right onto Farris Rd.
   Head north on Farris Rd.
   At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit and stay on Farris Rd.
   Turn right onto College Ave.
   Head east on College Ave.
   Turn right  onto Western Ave.
   The Drop-Off Zone is on the right at the end of Western Ave (before reaching Bruce St.).
4. Buses will drop students off for the Nature Reserve in the south end of parking lot behind the HPER Center. Buses may then park here.
5. Directions to the Nature Reserve drop off zone coming from I-40:
   Take Exit 129
   Head west on E. Dave Ward Dr.
   Turn right onto Farris Rd.
   Head north on Farris Rd.
   Turn right onto Student Ln.
   Turn right onto Beatrice Powell St.
   Turn right into the parking lot
   Head to the south end of the parking lot.
   The Drop-Off Zone will be in front of the entrance to the Nature Reserve.
6. Any private vehicles will need to stop by the UCA Police Department to get temporary parking tags. The UCAPD is located in the center of campus make sure to allow time to get your parking tags before the show starts. The best parking for private vehicles will be in the lot behind the baseball field just off of College Ave or the parking lot by the Nature Reserve.
