Instructional Technology & Online Teaching/Course Design

The CTE offers a variety of resources and services intended to support faculty who are involved in technology enhanced and/or online teaching.  CTE instructional designers are available to provide individual consultations and customized training for faculty groups in addition to the workshops, seminars, and other scheduled events listed here.

As responsibilities have evolved, instructional technology support has become a part of the Manager of Distance Technology and Support position’s responsibilities in IT.  For assistance with technology tool questions and/or training, please contact Tonya McKinney at tmckinne@uca.edu or 450-3305.

Instructional Theme: Instructional Innovation

One key component for a successful online course is faculty presence. Video is an excellent tool for making a connection, engaging learners, and conveying meaning. Before you click Record, consider the quality of your video. Do you have proper lighting? Are you using a microphone? Have you looked at your background? How long should it be? Which format is best?
These are just a few of the guidelines discussed in this workshop. By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to video yourself looking like a million bucks by following video production best practices. Plus, you will identify the various ways to integrate these videos within Blackboard for the optimum learning experience!

Due to recent staffing changes, the Certificate in Online Teaching and related programming has been suspended for the 2015-16 academic year.  We are in the process of developing a new and improved curriculum for this certificate to be re-launched in fall 2016.  Be watching the CTE weekly announcements for more information!
