Dr. Varghese Receives National Recognition

Dr. Femina Varghese’s major contribution article on Vocational Psychology and Corrections has been voted the Outstanding paper in The Counseling Psychologist (TCP) for 2013. TCP is the flagship journal for counseling psychology. The award will be announced at the American Psychological Association meeting in Washington, DC, in August.

Dr. Art Gillaspy returns as Department Chair

After serving one year as interim Dean for the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, the Department of Psychology welcomes Dr. Gillaspy back as Department Chair. Many thanks to Dr. Ron Bramlett for serving as interim Department Chair.

Michael Marsden defends dissertation

Congratulations to Michael Marsden for successfully defending his dissertation, “Client Expectations and Pretreatment Attrition at a Community Mental Health Center”.

Mental Health Counseling Student Wins Award

Congratulations to Katelyn Bates, first-year Mental Health Counseling student, won the Arkansas Mental Health Counselors Association (ArMHCA) $1000 Dr. Ann Thomas Graduate Student Scholarship award for the outstanding graduate student in 2013-2014.

Cory Cobb Wins Outstanding Student Award

Congrats to Cory Cobb for being chosen this year’s Richard A. Scott Outstanding Psychology Student. Cory received a check for $750 and his name on a department plaque.

Congrats also to the runners-up – Mary Catherine Rogers and Taylor Black.

The Awards and Recognitions reception is our annual end of the year event where students, faculty, alumni, and friends come together to celebrate the many accomplishments of our program over the past year.  This event is open to all who are interested in joining us in celebrating our accomplishments.

The 2013 – 2014 Psi Chi, the International Honor’s Society in Psychology, new member induction ceremony will be conducted as a part of the Awards & Recognitions Reception.
