Get involved in the community

  • Conway is nicknamed the “City of Colleges” for the three universities who call it home. Learn more about Conway and Faulkner County through one of these options. Your participation will be logged to earn credit by completing the associated step. We will work directly with the groups to track your progress. Choosing only 1 of these options will earn you credit for this item!
    • 1. The Big Event is a student-led organization that provides volunteer services annually to complete projects submitted by Conway community members. These projects can range from yard work to helping organize a food pantry to cleaning up a local playground. The Big Event is held in March each spring semester. Because The Big Event is after the New Bear Bucket List close date of March 1, to earn credit you will need to sign up and commit to participating to receive credit. (2025 date and registration link coming soon!)
    • 2. Voting is the most important way to exercise civic engagement. Bears at the Ballot student group has partnered with Motivote to walk you step-by-step through the actions you need to take to get vote ready. To earn credit, log into Motivote using your UCA credentials and follow the prompts to Check your Registration status.
    • 3. GivePulse is a hub to find ways to volunteer in the community and track your volunteer hours. To earn credit, find a service event (also called an “impact”) held on GivePulse, sign up to volunteer, and make sure your impact is recorded in GivePulse. Hint: if you record service hours for a student organization you are a member of or through UCA Commitment, what you record in GivePulse will also count towards your Bucket List!
    • 4. MobilePack is a meal packing event coordinated by the Department of First Year Experience and Living Learning Communities through Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). When you visit Tacos 4 Life, a nationwide restaurant founded in Conway, your purchase also provides a meal for a child in need. This event brings those dollars into the tangible action of packing meals which will be distributed by FMSC after the packing event. MobilePack will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024. A variety of time shifts are available; to earn credit, sign up for a shift and make sure to check in when you attend the event!
