Changes to the FAFSA®

Shorter Form

The form now contains far fewer questions, a direct data exchange with the IRS and a new formula for calculating aid.

FSA ID Requirements

Both students and parents must now create a Student Aid Account (FSA ID) before starting their FAFSA® application.

Delays in Aid Packaging

Expected delays in receiving FAFSA® data might push back until mid-March, affecting our ability to process and offer student aid promptly.

Divorced/Separated Parents

The method for assessing contributions has been updated, possibly affecting which parent’s information is required.

Family Farms and Businesses

Now included in financial assessments, potentially altering aid calculations for some families.

Household College Students

The previous consideration for multiple students in higher education from the same family has been removed, potentially decreasing aid for some.
