Greetings All,
It gives me great pleasure to write this article from the Chair’s Corner as we have fully developed and settled into our new facility at the new Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts! Upon entering the building you may hear instruments playing, choirs singing, and table saws buzzing as all of Art, Music, and Theater occupy every inch of the studios, rehearsal halls, and theatrical venues in our new facility. We officially celebrated the Grand Opening with the “Breaking of the Seal” on September 14, 2023, as we welcomed nearly 1000 guests to our open house. The studios, classrooms, Black Box Theater, and the Concert Hall all had demonstrations and performances throughout the facility for our guests to see what we do here and what we have to offer. It was truly a great night for the visual and performing arts.
Our facility does not only benefit Art, Music, and Theater, but other Departments and Programs have utilized the Atrium of the facility to hold events in the evening to highlight their departments and their programs, so it’s about reaching out to the community on so many different levels. As the word spreads of the programs that we offer with our top-notch faculty and staff, the picture for Art & Design beams brighter and brighter. So, if any of our alumni have not had the opportunity to come back for a visit, please do. I am sure that you would be pleasantly surprised to see how for decades to come, our program will grow and prosper in the future as we affect the arts on the local, state, regional, and hopefully national level. I am looking forward to a great Spring Semester, in 2024 as we continue to grow and bring new faces to become a part of the Department of Art & Design!
So please, encourage your friends to read our newsletter and pass it on. Also, send us updates on what you are doing so that we can share it with the rest of the Department of Art & Design, students, and alumni. I, (we) look forward to hearing from you and the great things you are doing.
