I have loved having an independent 3D studio space in the new Windgate 3D Building this semester. As a senior in the department taking an independent studio course in ceramics, I was able to ask for a studio space. The area comes with a desk, a stool, and a shelf, but I was able to ask for additional equipment from my professor. With my own space, I’m able to work on my art at any time, put all of my supplies in one place, and have my own designated pottery wheel. I also enjoy the community aspect of the studio spaces, which allow me to work with and get feedback from my peers in the other spaces. The studio has allowed me to get an idea of what it would be like to be a working artist with my own professional space, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have this experience for free through the university.
