On October 9th, 2020, UCA officially broke ground on the Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts. President Houston Davis announced a $3 million dollar gift from the Alice L. Walton Foundation at the ceremony. The $3 million gift will provide $1 million toward the construction of the building, $1 million to establish an endowment for ongoing facility maintenance, and a $1 million endowment to specifically support arts education programming.

The bidding process completed successfully and came in on-budget, which means what was designed and approved by the faculty and administration will be built. The next phase for the faculty and staff of Art and Design, Music, and Theatre will be to finalize what furniture will be transferred from the current spaces in Schichtl, Snow Fine Arts, and McAlister to the new building and to work with interior designers on what will need to be purchased, as well final finishes.

Over the next 18 months the faculty and staff will work with the architects, contractors, designers, and consultants to finish specifying and bidding new equipment for the studios, classrooms, and performance spaces.
