Dr. Femina Varghese receives Outstanding Paper Award

Congrats to Dr. Varghese for receiving the Outstanding Paper Award for The Counseling Psychologist – The official journal of APA’s Division 17: The Society of Counseling Psychology. Here is a blurb below about it:

Dr. Femina Varghese and her coauthors received the “2020 The Counseling Psychologist (TCP) Outstanding Paper Award” for their article, “Injustice in the Justice System: Reforming Inequities for True ‘Justice for All.’”

According to Dr. Lydia Buki, past editor of TCP, the award Is given for the one outstanding article published in the past year in the TCP that makes contributions “that substantially and significantly advance a particular topic or area within counseling psychology.” Dr Buki noted that “All of the papers published in The Counseling Psychologist in 2019 whose first author had already earned a doctorate were reviewed.” Dr. Buki stated, “This indicates superior scholarship as judged by the Awards Committee.” The award was given on August 8 at the annual meeting (online) of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Femina Varghese receives additional award from Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

Congratulations to Dr. Varghese for being awarded $6,500 in funding from the RWJF – Interdisciplinary Research Leaders to purchase PPE for parolees, probationers, and staff for the Arkansas Community Corrections.

Dr. Femina Varghese elected to rank of Fellow by the American Psychological Association (APA)

Dr. Varghese’s fellow status was announced on August 11, 2020, by the chair of the APA Fellows Committee, upon the recommendation of the APA Board of Directors and her election by the APA Council of Representatives. The APA stated that this significant recognition attests to Dr. Varghese’s “outstanding contribution in the field of psychology,” by which “the public is better served.”

Undergraduate Pathway & Mentoring Program

  • Undergraduate Pathway & Mentoring Program (UPMP) for UCA Students Seeking Admission to the Specialist in School Psychology Program
    • Freshmen and sophomore psychology and education majors are eligible for admission to the School Psychology Undergraduate Pathway and Mentoring Program (UPMP). Admission to the UPMP means that students are on track to be admitted to the Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) program. UPMP students who maintain the necessary requirements, pass a background check, interview successfully, complete their baccalaureate degree, and complete prerequisites will be admitted to the Ed.S. program.
