The Student Orientation Staff 40th Anniversary celebration will be held September 13 & 14, 2019 and we would love to see you! SOS began in 1979 with its first introduction to new students and has gone on to welcome thousands of new students to our campus each year.
Event Details
To celebrate the 40 years of student leadership, we are inviting you to return to campus and be a part of our SOS 40th Anniversary celebration. The weekend celebration involves the following:
- Friday, September 13, 6-7:30 p.m. – There will be a reception and a chance to meet and mingle with some of our former colleagues and UCA Bears at the president’s home.
- Saturday, September 14, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Lunch will be served in the McCastlain Ballroom in McCastlain Hall and will include a formal program highlighting the four decades of fun and service to the university. After the lunch, current SOS volunteers will lead campus tours for anyone interested.
- Saturday, September 14 – Tailgating on Bruce Street starts at 3 p.m., and the Bears take on Abilene Christian College for the Hall of Fame game at 6 p.m. at Estes Stadium.
Cost & Registration
Registration Cost: $30/adult – includes Friday night reception with hors d’oeuvres, Saturday luncheon including a full lunch buffet, and 40th Anniversary t-shirt. There is no cost to register children. However, please include the number of children in attendance on the registration form. A shirt is not included in child’s registration.
Registration is open August 1 – September 3, 2019. **Registration has closed. Please email orientation@uca.edu regarding any registration questions.**
Group rate tickets to the football game can be purchased directly through UCA Athletics. Go to ucasports.com/tickets, click “Purchase Tickets Now” then select the September 14 football game vs. Abilene Christian. Type “SOS40” in the Special Offer Code box and then follow the instructions to check out.
SOS Alumni Facebook Group
If you are on Facebook, please join our SOS Alumni group for 40th Anniversary updates and future announcements so you can stay in touch. Search “SOS Alumni” on Facebook – look for the orange logo and click “Join.” You will be prompted to list the years you were a member of SOS before being accepted into the group.

- Saturday, September 15: Alumni Association Tailgate, 3-5pm, Crafton Alumni Pavilion – Alumni Association members eat free; non-members are $5.
