What to Expect on Move-In Day
Determine your move-in slot.
The assisted move-in process for freshmen only will take place on Saturday, August 19. There is no need to register or sign up for this process. Your move-in time will depend on the hall you live in. Also note the color of your hall for the traffic maps below. Please note that residents of Farris Hall will move onto campus on Friday, August 18 from 8:00-9:30 a.m.

Locate your hall’s assigned entrance and traffic flow on the map.
Your entrance into UCA’s campus will be the smoothest if you locate the entrance and follow the traffic flow identified for your hall. If you have multiple cars, make sure each car knows your hall name and room number. Click each map to enlarge, save or print. If you have individuals attending with you who will NOT have any items to unload, they should park and meet you at their hall rather than going through the traffic routes on the map.

Put your hang tag on your car’s rearview mirror.
You will receive a colored hang tag in the mail the second week of August. This will help us identify which hall you are in line for when approaching campus. Put this hangtag on the leading car’s rearview mirror. If you don’t receive a hang tag, lose it, or need an additional hang tag, we recommend putting a piece of colored construction paper matching your hall’s color on the dashboard of the car. As long as you follow the map, you will get to where you need to go with the help of our volunteers!
Pack wisely.
All of your belongings should be boxed/bagged and tagged. Please make every effort to organize your belongings in boxes, plastic bins, or trash bags and label them with your name, hall name, and room number. This helps our volunteers make quick work of getting items to your room. Also make sure to review this suggested packing list that includes items you should not bring to your residence hall room.
Pull up and we will unload!
You may have to wait in line, but we will get to you! The goal is to get you in your room as fast and easy as possible. That’s why we will do all the moving for you! When you arrive at the hall, we will unload all your belongings. You will receive a packet of information from Housing & Residence Life and your room key. It is very important that you DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED, even if just for a moment. We want to unload your car as quickly as possible so that you can park and come back to find all of your belongings already in your room.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect on Move-In Day?
Campus will be very busy! Please be patient as we work to help every freshman moving onto campus. The experience will be smoothest for you if you arrive during your designated time frame and follow the traffic flow path for your hall. The good thing is - we will do all the work for you! Once you arrive at your hall, volunteers will unload your car and bring your belongings to your room. You will then immediately move your car to a parking spot, check in with Housing, and then head to your room where your belongings will be waiting for you!
What if I can’t come during the time frame for my hall?
That is okay! If you cannot come during the designated slot for your hall, you won’t be able to move in on Saturday, August 20 between 8am-5pm. You can move in after 5pm on August 20 or between Sunday, August 21-Thursday, August 25 by calling the RA number posted at the front of the hall. As long as you check in by 5:00pm on Thursday, August 25 your room assignment will still be reserved for you. Please know that volunteers will only be available to help you move in on Saturday, August 20 during the designated slot for your hall.
I’d prefer to move in my belongings without help from the volunteers. Is that possible?
You can also move in independently after 5pm on Saturday, August 20 or between Sunday, August 21-Thursday, August 25 by calling the RA number posted at the front of the hall. As long as you check in to your hall by 5:00pm on Thursday, August 25 your room assignment will still be reserved for you.
If I leave and come back, will I be able to unload things at the front door of my hall?
Please make note of the Move-In Day maps and time frames if you leave campus on Move-In Day. The traffic flow changes between the shifts (between 12-1pm) and depending on the time, you may not be able to make it back to the front door of your hall until after 5pm on Move-In Day.
What do I do with this hang tag once I’ve moved in?
Throw it away! Or maybe you want it as a keepsake? This hang tag does not serve as your parking permit and its only purpose is during Move-In Day. Your yearly parking permit may be picked up at the University Police Department after you move in; just make sure to your BearCard Mobile set up.
Is there a limit to the number of people who can come with me on Move-In Day?
There is currently not a limit to the number of guests per student, but please be mindful that there is limited space in your room and you also will have a roommate moving in on the same day. Things are busy, but it wouldn't be Move-In Day if it wasn't busy! If you have individuals attending with you who will NOT have any items to unload from their car, they should park and meet you at their hall rather than going through the traffic routes on the map.
Will offices be open on Move-In Day?
Yes! Several offices will be open on Move-In Day to help you while family members on are campus with you. Financial Aid (Harrin Hall, Suite 200) and Student Accounts (Bernard Hall, Suite 110) will be open 10:00am-3:00pm. Housing & Residence Life (Bernard Hall, Suite 201) and BearCard (Student Center, Suite 104) will be open from 9:00am-4:00pm. All campus offices will be back open for the week on Monday at 8:00am.
Will volunteers help move out at the end of the year?
Unfortunately not. Our volunteers only help on Freshman Move-In Day each fall semester. During move out, students are moving out over several days which does not make a coordinated volunteer effort feasible.
