Cookies, Frosting, and Consumer Problems in Clothing

Mrs. Luong’s class worked with frosting and the Pantone Color Wheel – students created their own color wheels to learn about color selection and creation in apparel.

Job Opportunities for Students through the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance

Attention current UCA SDA members, graduates, soon-to-be-graduates!
Please check out or share these wonderful job opportunities with the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance!

For those of you who didn’t get into internship, are going to be doing grad school, or just wanted some time off between your bachelor’s and your next step in life, the full-time Cooking Matters position may be for you!  I personally volunteered with them during undergrad and worked with them again during dietetic internship.  It is, to this day, the most rewarding and fun volunteering experience I’ve ever had.  This position, however, would be paid!

Samantha Stadter (a UCA nutrition alumnus who graduated last May) has held the full-time position for the past year and has absolutely LOVED it.  It also most certainly strengthened her resume for when she applied to (and got in!) her dietetic internship.

There is also a great summer program for both grads and undergrads looking to get some experience under their belt, and this position deals more with No Kid Hungry partners and working on childhood hunger programs.  It’s summer long and full-time, going from May 31st through August 1st.

If you are interested in making valuable connections, getting great experience, and working with one of the best non-profits in the region, please do not hesitate to click the links below!

Thank you!

Dietetic Interns Take on the Capitol

The UCA Dietetic Interns attended a Legislative Day at the state capitol on February 17, 2016. They were guests of Senator Jason Rapert and sat in on the Health Care Committee meeting. Governor Asa Hutchinson spoke at the meeting and shared his vision for Medicaid expansion called Arkansas Works.
As part of their preparation for this event, the dietetic interns reviewed sources from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics regarding public policy. They used this information to create an infographic for DPD students: https://magic.piktochart.com/output/11366258-untitled-infographic
