If you’re still deciding on a minor, Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS) offers a flexible, hands-on option that fits with almost any major. Whether you’re drawn to health, design, advocacy, or real-world life skills, an FCS minor helps you grow personally and professionally, while making a difference. 

Eighteen (18) hours of family and consumer sciences, nutrition, or interior design courses, 3 hours of which must be upper-division (3000-4000 level), may be selected from various areas of Nutrition, Family & Consumer Sciences, or Interior Design and approved by the department chair. 

The minor is offered for students who desire family and consumer sciences for cultural and personal value or to support work for a related major. Here are a few ideas to complete a minor in FCS.

Eighteen (18) hours of Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) are required for a minor and may be selected from any area of FACS and approved by the department chair. At least three hours must be upper division credit hours. The student may choose to concentrate the hours in any one emphasis area, however, ALL PREREQUISITES MUST be completed PRIOR to enrolling in each course.  A MINIMUM of 2.00 GPA in all FACS courses is required for completion of the FACS minor.
