A limited number of Graduate Assistantships are available for fall and spring semesters. The assistantship for both M.A. (mathematics education) and M.S. (applied mathematics) includes a full-tuition scholarship and a stipend of up to $11,700 for nine months. Graduate Assistants are expected to enroll in nine credit hours and work 20 hours per week in the department. Possible duties of graduate assistants include tutoring, assisting an instructor in the classroom, teaching College Algebra, and grading for professors.

Applying for an assistantship
- Apply to the University of Central Arkansas Graduate School website. The Department will not evaluate prospective candidates for an assistantship before they apply to the University’s Graduate School.
- Complete the application form
- Applications for Fall are open October 1 through July 1
- Applications for Spring are open July 1 through December 1
- Applications submitted after the deadlines will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- International students must follow the deadlines given on this page.
- After review of your application, you may be invited for an interview.
- Applicants may be asked to complete an Algebra readiness test before acquiring a tutoring or teaching assistantship.
- If accepted, graduate assistantships begin on August 16 for fall semester. Please check emails regularly as all hiring documents must be completed before this time. Orientation will take place during August.
