Internship Requirements & Application

MAT 6699 (Internship) is the final course students take in the program. This is a 6 hour course which you must take by itself. You are in the classroom all day, every day for the entire semester. We strongly encourage you to wait until you have your own classroom to take internship. It helps you financially (paid internship) as well as you’re working in your own classroom. Please note that all candidates must have a 3.0 GPA prior to admission to internship. If you are on the K-6 Elementary track, you MUST have a job in your own classroom for internship. No placements will be made for K-6 students.

Mandatory Online Internship Orientation for ALL Fall 2022 Interns (Teachers of Record and Placed)–Monday, August 15th, 5pm-7pm via Zoom

Teachers of Record

Teacher of record candidates must complete the Internship Application located at the bottom of the page.  The purpose of this form is to determine eligibility for internship.  Incorrect information on this form may jeopardize candidate eligibility. If you are on the K-6 Elementary track, you MUST have a job in your own classroom for internship. No placements will be made for K-6 students.

Students To Be Placed for Internship

Having your own classroom before internship may not always work out for students. Therefore, we offer placement for interns who are on the middle or secondary track. All placed interns must also complete the Internship Application located at the bottom of the page. ***Placed or Self-Placed internships are UNPAID! They are just like an undergraduate internship, where you will be there every day, all day with no compensation*** The only way to be paid during internship is to have a job as the Teacher of Record in your own classroom. No substituting, no paraprofessional positions, no teaching assistants, no interventionist positions, no exceptions.

NOTE:  Students being placed must pay a $250 fee to UCA Student Accounts prior to the start of the Spring semester. After the application deadline, Mrs. Styles-Foster will email the names of placed/self-placed interns to students accounts. The fee will be placed on your account and you will be expected to pay this before the start of your placement.
