 Program Description

Students will live among the Dutch and experience Amsterdam in a way only afforded by a culturally immersive, multi-week experience.  Amsterdam is referred to as “The Venice of the North” for good reason: canals encircle and run throughout the city’s ancient and renowned architecture.  Residents thrive in a country known for biking, windmills, tulips, excellent public transportation, safety, and a way of life that is the envy of even other Europeans.
Come experience Amsterdam first-hand and learn how the world transitioned from tall sailing ships transporting goods from the far east to container ships fulfilling the same purpose through Europe’s largest and most modern ports.  Learn how the Dutch improve health through biking and other personal mobility solutions.  Walk through tulip fields and tour windmills in close proximity to businesses crafting some of Holland’s finest wares.  Learn how a nation’s health is influenced by the interaction of geography and supply chain principles.  We will visit culturally significant locations such as Anne Frank’s house, the Van Gogh Museum, the Dutch Royal Palace, and Muiderslot Castle.  Students will tour Amsterdam on its renowned canals and taste world class food in addition to visiting ports, factories, and businesses in a country known for its health, hospitality, and beauty.  Our time in Amsterdam will broaden your horizons and allow you to compare life in a thriving, European cultural and business center to that found in the United States.  Take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity to transform your worldview and broaden your horizons.  Welkom!

NOTE: Enrollment is limited to 30 participants.

Health and Safety

Students registering for programs should carefully read through all health and safety information provided during the application process. In addition, students should honestly complete the ‘Health and Safety Form’ so that any health related concerns may be adequately accommodated on study abroad programs.

Participants will be enrolled in comprehensive international insurance for the duration of programming. It is the student’s responsibility to extend insurance cover if they stay abroad beyond UCA’s planned program dates. For information about international insurance coverage: https://uca.edu/globalstudy/health-and-safety/

Students must attend one health and safety meeting during the spring semester. Meeting dates will be announced after the application deadlines.
