With a passion for fostering global understanding through travel, Alexandra Nieves brings firsthand experience living, studying, and working abroad to her role as UCA’s Director of Education Abroad. Now, she strives to create transformative experiences that broaden students’ perspectives and enrich their academic journey.

In the Office of Education Abroad, Ali focuses on developing inclusive study abroad programs that prioritize academic excellence and cultural immersion. She works closely with faculty and international partners to ensure programs align with students’ diverse academic needs and provide meaningful individual experiences.

As an undergraduate student at UCA, Ali was introduced to international travel when she participated in the Spanish Language Immersion program in Costa Rica. After the experience ignited her curiosity, Ali pursued further opportunities for study abroad, taking part in a faculty-led program in Paris before completing a semester exchange at the Université Catholique de l’Ouest in Angers, France. After the completion of her studies, Ali gained valuable insights on cross-cultural challenges while working as an English teacher to K-12 students in France (TAPIF) and later in the Dominican Republic which inform her work today.
