Curriculum Review Process

Curriculum Submission Procedures for the College of Education:

To ensure a smooth process, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Please use the official curriculum forms available on the Panda site.
  • Should you or your department have any questions about which forms to use, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
  • It is imperative to use Microsoft Word exclusively for editing these forms. The documents contain macros and formatting that may be compromised if opened in Google Drive.

The progression of the curriculum approval procedure is as follows:

  1. Your department’s curriculum committee will convene to discuss and vote on proposed curriculum changes.
  2. When editing the documents, your chair should exclusively use Microsoft Word and refrain from signing them at this stage.
  3. If the proposals are approved, the department committee chair should email the digital files to you, in your capacity as the department chair. Tell them the form will be signed later through DocuSign.
  4. Once you endorse the curriculum proposals, please forward the digital files to me. Please note that signing is not required at this point. Your action indicates pending approval.
  5. In order to facilitate a comprehensive review, I will compile all submitted curriculum forms approximately one week before the college curriculum committee meeting. This timeframe allows the committee ample opportunity to review the proposals in advance.

As the committee reviews and votes on the proposals, there may be instances necessitating further revisions. Should substantial changes be required, I will schedule a meeting with you to chart a suitable course forward. For minor edits and revisions, I will make the adjustments and promptly inform you of the modifications.

Curriculum proposals approved by the college curriculum committee that impact education licensure programs will subsequently proceed to the PEC. The PEC meetings are scheduled for the last Monday of each month.

Once all proposals are approved, I will begin the process of obtaining digital signatures using DocuSign. You will have the opportunity to sign these documents during this phase.

Upon securing all necessary signatures, I will submit the forms to the respective councils (i.e., Undergraduate and Graduate) for their review and approval.

It is vital to meet the following college-specific submission deadlines for curriculum proposals (bolded); the dates that follow each are when the respective councils will review and vote on them (Curriculum Review Timeline).

Should you require clarification on the curriculum approval process or assistance with drafting curriculum, please know that I am here to provide support and guidance.
