This collection contains the papers of the Arkansas Association for Childhood Education. The organization was established in November 1937, growing out of the work of the two chapters then active in the state, Fort Smith and the Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway. The state branch was organized as a part of the American Association for Childhood Education, founded in 1892.
The first president of the Arkansas ACE was Miss Verna Chrisler, a member of the Education Department at Arkansas State Teachers College. The organization affiliated with the Arkansas Education Association.
